The Cultural Center of GlavUpDK has hosted a regular Joint Meeting of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO chaired by Mr. Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The event brought together leaders of profile Russian ministries and departments, heads of constituent entities of the Russian Federation, business community representatives, prominent figures of education, science, culture, journalism and sports of our country.

Mr. Lavrov reported on the current state of cooperation between Russia and UNESCO. The Minister highly appreciated the International Forum held in St. Petersburg and Kazan in December to mark the 50th anniversary of the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, and outlined a number of the most promising areas of cooperation with the world humanitarian organization.

M. Shaimiev, State Counselor of the Republic of Tatarstan, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, A. Chuchalin, Chairman of the Russian Bioethics Committee, Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, A. Belyaninov, Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly gave reports.

The Cultural Center’s hall exhibited photos of unique cultural and historical monuments and natural reserves of Russia. The New Names Foundation scholarship holders performed on stage for the guests.
