GlavUpDK Cultural Center hosted a gala evening to mark the National Unity Day, which was organized by the Main Administration for Service to the Diplomatic Corps (GlavUpDK) under the MFA of Russia, the Russian Association for International Cooperation (RAIC), the Council of Young Diplomats of the MFA of Russia, and the Ethnoproject Moscow international creative workshop.
The event was attended by representatives of the foreign diplomatic corps accredited in the Russian Federation, the Russian Government and business community.
The lobby of the Cultural Center offered a fair of folk crafts and gastro specialties from Russian regions, so visitors learned traditional recipes of natural Mari El sweets, Dagestani urbech, Bashkortostan-originated honey, Siberian herbal teas, and other well-known Russian bonnes bouches.
The Cultural Center also presented ethnic apparels with national ornaments and patterns, decorative dolls, interior items, gemstone jewelry, etc. That evening, everyone could take home an item that reminded them of a Russian region, implying our country’s cultural diversity.
The fair went along with vibrant traditional dances and musical shows.
The evening’s official part was opened by Alexander Sukhoruchenko, GlavUpDK Chief Counselor, who read out a greeting from GlavUpDK Head Vyacheslav Fatin. “Today we celebrate not only a great historical feat, but also the spiritual unity of our people and shared responsibility for the present and future of Russia. May our traditions continue to grow stronger and may good deeds unite us for a common goal of the well-being and prosperity of our Motherland!” the greeting reads.
Furthermore, Marina Korosteleva, First Deputy Secretary General RAIC, and Konstantin Kolpakov, Chairman of the Council of Young Diplomats of the MFA of Russia, also addressed the guests with congratulatory speeches.
The cultural program included a show with performers who represented peoples of Russia in the Ethnoproject Moscow directed by Madina Ilgamova. They performed both pop and traditional songs and dances demonstrating the cultural identity of various ethnic groups who live in the Russian Federation.
The celebration was complemented by an exhibition of paintings by Larisa Radevich inspired by captivating landscapes of her home country.
