The presentation of the Kirov Region for the heads of diplomatic missions took place at the Cultural Center of the Main Administration for Service to the Diplomatic Corps (GlavUpDK) under the MFA of Russia.
Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov greeted the participants, saying that: “The advantages of the Kirov Region make it possible for them to engage in active foreign economic and international cooperation with almost one hundred countries. Priority attention is given to the nearby countries, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. In other words, to the states belonging to the World Majority, striving to strengthen their independence and execute their right to free development through mutually beneficial relations with Russia.”
Kirov Region Governor Alexander Sokolov talked about the region’s economic, investment and tourism potential. He also noted that in September of this year Kirov marked its 650th anniversary and was proclaimed the Capital of Dawns and the New Year’s Capital of Russia. In this regard, special attention was paid to event tourism and, in particular, to the theme-specific festival to take place in Kirov on December 7–January 7.
The Cultural Center lobby offered an exhibition focusing on the Kirov Region, with more than 30 regional businesses having presented their products. Visitors were also shown an installation dedicated to Kirov as the New Year’s Capital.
