Presentation on Vologda Region takes place in Cultural Center

On June 2, the Cultural Center of GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia hosted a presentation on the economic, investment and tourism potential of the Vologda Region. The event was timed to coincide with the anniversaries celebrated this year: the 85th anniversary of the Vologda Region and the 875th anniversary of the founding of Vologda and Veliky Ustyug.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Governor of the Vologda Region Oleg Kuvshinnikov attended the presentation. The guests of the event were diplomats from 36 countries, business people, Russian and foreign media. 
During the opening of the presentation, Sergei Lavrov welcomed the focus of the region's leaders on finding new foreign partners and logistics routes, attracting investments, modernizing the economy, expanding cultural and humanitarian ties, increasing tourist exchanges, and also stressed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regularly supports these initiatives.
In his speech, Governor of the Vologda Region Oleg Kuvshinnikov highlighted the advantages of implementing industry, animal husbandry and forestry projects in the region, and noted that the Vologda Region has a unique natural, historical and cultural potential and boasts its traditional brands, including Cherepovets metal, Vologda butter and lace, Father Frost's Residence. This offers a wide range of opportunities for the development of tourism, trade and economic relations, cultural education projects.
The guests tasted the famous local specialties, and explored products by the largest companies in the Vologda Region such as Severstal, Apatit, Vologda Optical & Mechanical Plant and Segezha Group introduced their products. The Russian North Song and Dance Ensemble and Solntsevorot Folk Music Ensemble were performing on stage at the Cultural Center. 
During the event, diplomats learned more the industry, tourism opportunities, and culture of the Vologda Region, and participated in the discussion on promising cooperation with the region, which is one of the largest exporters in the Northwestern Federal District of Russia.
