The Cultural Center hosted an official ceremony to announce the establishment of the Russian-Indonesian Friendship Society. Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, sent a message of greetings to the attendees of the celebration arranged by the Russian Association for International Cooperation (RAIC).

The ceremony opened with a speech by Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. He noted that diplomatic relations between Russia and Indonesia have become more trusting in recent years. Both countries do not become complacent about their goals. The mission of the friendship societies is to keep developing bilateral cooperation at all levels. 

Sergei Kalashnikov, Chairman of the RAIC Presidium, emphasized that the establishment of the Russian-Indonesian Friendship Society opened a new page of relations that have been unfairly underestimated in the cultural and economic context. Interpersonal relations underlie any processes of the intergovernmental cooperation, and the organization should be focused on cross-cultural interaction of the two countries. 
Jose Antonio Morato Tavares, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia in the Russian Federation, was the guest of honor at the event. “Russia has always supported Indonesia on the global stage, which is illustrative of how valuable the relations between our countries are. The friendship society will pave the way for strengthening the already close ties in various areas. I am certain that our countries are able to achieve any goal together,” he said. 

The official part of the event closed with a screening of a short film about how, on August 26, 2022, the Russian Association for International Cooperation and the International Fund "Dialogue of Cultures – United World" organized the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the House of Indonesia, timed to coincide with the Independence Day of Indonesia.
