Cultural Center hosts Dagestan presentation

June 6, the Cultural Center of GlavUpDK under the MFA of Russia hosted a presentation showcasing the economic, investment and tourist potential in the Republic of Dagestan. The event was attended by Russia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov, Head of Dagestan Sergey Melikov, representatives of the diplomatic corps, the business community and media.

Sergey Lavrov gave a talk to highlight Dagestan’s diverse achievements and noted efforts taken by the republic’s leadership to build overseas partnerships with a backing from the MFA of Russia. “The region is actively promoting international contacts. Dagestan maintains external relations with more than 60 countries, primarily, neighboring countries and Asia. We welcome the focus of the Republic’s leadership and its business community on further expansion of trade, investment, cultural and humanitarian exchanges and on holding international forums. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our foreign missions will continue to provide all necessary assistance in this regard—in line with the unified foreign policy of the Russian Federation approved by President Vladimir Putin,” Sergey Lavrov said.

Sergey Melikov presented Dagestan’s investment and tourism projects noting the attractiveness of the region for businesses. He spoke about new economic clusters, infrastructure initiatives and prospects for cooperation.

During the event, Rossotrudnichestvo and the Government of Dagestan signed the Agreement on Cooperation to expand the opportunities for promoting the region at the international level, in particular, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties.

Guests were also invited to an exhibition dedicated to Dagestan’s achievements in agriculture, industry, renewable energy, tourism and folk crafts. The evening ended with vibrant performances by creative groups from the region.
