70th anniversary of the Great Victory
The Russian history has known many wars. The war of 1941-1945 was the most terrible, the bloodiest, most determining for the fate of the world. Victory in the Great Patriotic War showed to the whole world not only the power of our weapons, but also the power of the Russian spirit. This victory became a defining milestone in the history of our country.
On 9 May, 2015 the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory will be celebrated.
But no matter how many decades have passed, we cannot forget about the towns and villages turned to ashes, the destroyed national economy, about the destruction of priceless monuments of material and spiritual culture of the people, the workers in the rear, who bore the brunt of disproportionate burden of the war years, on the most important and irreplaceable loss - millions of lives burnt in the fire of the Great Patriotic War. The Great Victory ... The way to it was long and hard. 1,418 days and nights of the Great Patriotic War were filled in with unprecedented cruelty and pain, irreparable loss and destruction, sorrow for the native land tormented with fire and metal. Nobody and nothing can detract from the greatness of the feat of the people, the world-historic significance of the victory over fascism.
On spring, sunny day of May 9, 1945 a tired but happy soldier of the great country wiped powder fumes of the last, most difficult battle off his face. On the same day, in all corners of our vast country a so much awaited word "Victory!" sounded as cheerful news. Since that memorable May, seven decades have passed. New generations have grown since then. For them, the Great Patriotic War is a distant history. But conscience and duty to the dead and the survivors of the war should not let us forget the heroic and tragic page of the annals of our state.
Every year, on the anniversary of the Victory, Main Administration for Service to the Diplomatic Corps under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation honors veterans who fought in the fields of the Great Patriotic War and worked selflessly in our organization during the years of peace.
Today, on the eve of the jubilee/round 70th anniversary of the Great Victory, Main Administration for Service to the Diplomatic Corps is arranging a Route of memory for the veterans. The honoring of veterans and commemoration of the honored dead will be held on May 6th. It will begin with the laying of flowers at the memorial plaque to the soldiers, former employees of the Foreign Ministry, who died during the Great Patriotic War, and then a specially organized transportation vehicle will take the participants to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to commemorate all those who fell during the Great Patriotic War with a traditional laying of a wreath. With words of appreciation, the veterans being present there will be also awarded flowers and gifts. In addition, according to the order of the board of Main Administration for Service to the Diplomatic Corps, every World War II veteran and former employee of our organization will be given a monetary financial aid.
